Course description

During Module 1 the requirements of ISO 9001:2008 will be explained and applied to the specific organisation.

Module 2 addresses practices for effective internal audits as required by ISO 19011 and ISO 9001:2008.

Learning objectives and course outcomes:

By the end of the different modules, students will be able to:
 
Module 1: Understanding ISO 9001:2008
  • Explain quality management definitions and concepts
  • Explain the benefits of quality management systems
  • Explain the quality management principles
  • Explain the process approach
  • Explain the requirements of the ISO 9001:2008 standard
  • Identify processes and show the interaction of processes
 
Module 2: Auditing
  • Explain definitions and concepts
  • Explain audit responsibilities
  • Schedule internal audits
  • Evaluate documents
  • Conduct opening meetings
  • Conduct on-site audit activities
  • Communicate effectively during the audit
  • Collect information and generate audit findings
  • Write audit nonconfromities
  • Prepare audit conclusions
  • Conduct closing meetings
  • Report audit results
  • Conduct an audit follow-up

Course material provided:

Students receive an official ISO 9001 standard as well as course notes.

Who should attend?

Anyone involved with the implementation and auditing of ISO 9001:2008 Quality management systems.

 
Student assessment:
  • Students will be required to successfully complete various practical assignments
  • Students are also required to pass a written exam at the end of Module 2 (2 hours)
  • The pass mark for the examination is 60%

Certification:

A certificate of successful completion is issued to students who demonstrate achievement of the acquired skills, and who passed the exam.
A certificate of attendance may be issued to students who did not achieve 60% in the exam.
