Duration:
This is a hands-on practical
13-day course presented over a period of three weeks. In order to ensure
that the course outcomes are achieved, students will be required to actively
participate during classroom instruction and to complete various assignments in
their own time. |
Course description
Module 1: Understanding ISO 9001:2008 (4
days).
During this module the clauses of ISO 9001:2008 will be explained in
detail, providing a basis for understanding the quality management principles,
especially the process approach. Students learn by participating in group
exercises and discussions.
Module 2: Implementation
of quality management systems (4 days).
In addition to formal instruction,
the students will participate in exercises that develop skills to evaluate and
prepare procedures, quality manuals, instructions and forms. Student will be
required to complete various assignments and exercises during this module. At
the end of module 2, students will be required to write a 2-hour exam covering
the contents of both modules 1 and 2.
Module 3: Auditing
of quality management systems (5 days).
This module addresses the
principles and practices for effective internal and external audits in
accordance with ISO 9001:2008 and ISO 19011:2002. Students gain the
necessary auditing skills through a balance of formal classroom instructions,
role-plays, group exercises and open forum discussions.

Prerequisites for
students:
Grade 12 with at least two years work experience.
Willingness to
learn and participate. |
Student assessment:
Students will be evaluated for participation,
attendance and performance on a continual basis throughout the course.
Students are also required to pass written exams at
the end of Module 2 (2 hours) as well as Module 3 (2 hours). The
pass mark for each of the examinations is 60%.
In order to qualify for a SAATCA Auditor/Lead
Auditor certificate students need to achieve a minimum of 70% for both exams. |
Certification:
A certificate of successful completion is issued to
students who demonstrate achievement of the acquired skills, and who passed the
exam.
A SAATCA Lead Auditor certificate is issued to
students who achieved a minimum of 70% for both exams.
(* This course is registered by SAATCA and meets part
of the training requirements of those seeking registration as an auditor or
lead auditor under that scheme.)
A certificate of attendance may be issued to
students who did not achieve 60% in the exam. |
